A. Johnsona, Fostera i Grangera?

@nemanja
Inace sva trojica imaju procenat suta slabiji nego sto to odgovara njihovom renomeu.
@Coyo
Kukoca i Radju.

It's no secret that Larry Bird is unhappy with his team. His dissatisfaction is so profound that he's already announced his plans to drastically revamp the roster during the off-season.
Granted that a player's ultimate value cannot be unequivocally judged on the basis of a single ball game, the Pacers' dismal performance in their 105-75 loss in Memphis on Tuesday nevertheless revealed certain truths that Bird cannot ignore.
It should be assumed that Bird will not be content with merely fielding a competitive team, but that a championship is his goal. In that case, here's a preview of the Pacers' keepers and discards.
KEEPERS
Anthony Johnson: Has long arms to go with the shortest neck in the league — that's why he's only 6-3, but plays like he's 6-5. He also showed that he could score from the low-post (against Chucky Atkins) and from beyond the arc (7-13, 1 assist, 0 turnovers, 15 points). His favorite move into the lane is to dribble hard right, then abruptly pull-up, spin left, and shoot — he was 2-2 on this particular maneuver. He played strong, harassing defense, and usually found his way through/around/under any proffered screens.
What didn't he do? Finish well in traffic (a flaw throughout his career). Look comfortable handling with his left hand as he initiated the Pacers' offense. And show any kind of jets.
If Bird decides that the revised edition of the Pacers will be strictly a half-court, slow-down team, then AJ will be a more than adequate point guard. If Bird has race-horse basketball in mind (which is extremely doubtful), then Johnson can be an acceptable backup.
Jeff Foster: A terrific rebounder (9 for the game, 6 on offense) who's very quick to the ball. Used to have an okay mid-range jumper, but these days his offensive repertoire is limited to offensive rebounds and layups (7-10, 15 points). Was given the difficult task of defending Pau Gasol one-on-one and did fairly well — beating Gasol to the baseline on three drives. Unfortunately, Foster stopped Gasol only once. The other two times, Gasol's long, plastic arms simply reached past Foster's defense for scores. When Gasol turned and faced, Foster was able to block the ensuing shot.
Foster is athletic, tough, and moves smartly without the ball. As a starter (preferably at the power-forward) or as a backup to both big men spots, Foster is a terrific role player. As such, his playing time should be limited to 25 minutes or less.
Fred Jones: Couldn't buy a bucket (0-7, zero points). When he finally did put the ball through the ring he was tooted for a charge! And, although he worked hard, his defense was equally as ineffective.
But Jones is a streaky shooter who simply had a game he'd like to forget. On a championship-caliber team, Jones could easily be the go-to scorer on the second unit.
Scot Pollard: Showed the ugliest jump shot in the league (1-4, 4 rebounds, 2 points). Banged, set sturdy screens, made accurate reversal passes from the high post, and always played hard.
An ideal 12th man for a top-notch team, even if his primary function would be to make the other bigs work hard in practice.
Danny Granger: Barely survived a living nightmare (0-5, 0 points, one sprained ankle). Looked like the kid has hit the infamous wall and hit it hard. Even before he tweaked his ankle, he was playing in a daze. Still, he's young, talented, and will be a player to be reckoned with in 2-3 years.
DISCARDS
Stephen Jackson: Only played hard with the ball in his hands (3-11, 9 points). His two turnovers resulted from an incredibly dumb pass thrown into a dense crowd of defenders, and an incredibly dumb dribble into a similar throng. Jackson repeatedly massaged the ball on every possession, thereby bringing whatever offensive movement the Pacers tried to develop to a sudden halt. He's the kind of selfish, yet talented, player who can keep both teams in a ball game.
In this particular game, Jackson's defense was even more abysmal than the worst performances of the worst defensive wingman in NBA history — Pete Maravich. At least Pistol Pete made an occasional effort to ambush the passing lanes. Against the Grizzlies, Jackson played defense with his hands in his pocket. His lack of effort was embarrassing.
Peja Stojakovic: Made some shots and missed some shots (5-13, 11 rebounds, 13 points). He was only comfortable driving the baselines (which he did three times, getting fouled once and missing two soft flippers). The one time he ventured in the pivot, he lost his balance and fumbled the ball away.
Yes, he's big. Yes, he moves well without the ball. But, aside from his occasional ventures to the hoop, he either catches-and-shoots, or catches-pulls-left-and-shoots. Either way, Peja needs plenty of space to uncork his jumper. To generate this space, one of three things has to happen: The Pacers must arrange a series of screens for him to utilize. He must play with a quick, tricky point-guard who can drive-and-dish. Or he must play with a dreadnaught pivot-man who demands double-teams. In any case, Peja is not a very forceful player. In the past, of course, he has been infamous for choking in post-season games — and there's no reason to believe that his heart is any bigger in Indiana than it was in Sacramento.
Peja also plays defense like a wimp. Straight-backed, not only avoiding contact but leaning away from it, and timidly swiping at the ball. Mike Miller ate his lunch.
The Pacers' public spin is all about how Peja and Jermaine O'Neal will work wonders together. But, in Bird's champion's heart, he has to know that Stojakovic is a loser.
David Harrison: Is big, strong, and sloppy (4-11, 11 rebounds, 13 points). He did produce a few noteworthy plays: A muscular move into the middle for a jump hook. A hard foul that sent Dahntay Jones sprawling to the floor. One exemplary baseline rotation. Otherwise, he missed a layup and a dunk. Showed a remarkable lack of vertical and lateral explosiveness. Made several late rotations. Routinely ran back on defense with his head turned away from the ball. And showed both an unwillingness and an inability to pass the ball.
Harrison creates his own problems by playing with a frown on his puss, expecting the refs to saddle him with underserved fouls. The refs were certainly up to the challenge against the Grizzlies — two of the four fouls on Harrison were imaginary.
Okay, he's young and a legit 7-footer. But from here it looks like Harrison is strictly a garbage-time player.
Sarunas Jasikevicius: Might be the slowest backcourtsman since Ernie Grunfeld. Jassy is so slow that on one fourth-quarter fast break he was caught from behind by three hustling white jerseys. He's so slow that he couldn't keep any opponent in front of him on defense.
For sure, he's a terrific one-on-none shooter (1-3, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, 4 points), he has admirable court-vision, and makes logistically correct defensive rotations. But he's too sloooow to be anything more than a suit-and-tie guy who's activated only in dire emergencies.
In addition, three Pacers were unavailable: Jermaine O'Neal and Austin Croshere, who were injured, and Jamaal Tinsley, who had the flu. And here's where the pickings become complicated.
Jermaine O'Neal: Plays hard on both ends of the court, and can score from a variety of positions and angles. With either hand in the low-post, with jumpers and spinning drives from either baseline and the high post, and occasionally even on the run.
But the young man also has several significant flaws: He's incredibly foul prone. He's still too emotionally immature to be the center-piece of a championship-quality team. He has yet to prove that he's a dependable player in the clutch. And he also seems to be injury prone.
It says here that O'Neal is the best trading chip that Bird has, and that's how the young man should be used.
Jamaal Tinsley: Is talented, competitive, and is adept at getting the ball to the open man. On the downside of the equation, he shoots too much, has an inconsistent jumper, plays unacceptable defense, turns the ball over, and makes too many poor decisions.
Tinsley is a keeper only if he can accept being a backup in the Sam Cassell mode, i.e., a shoot-first point guard who's the focus of the second unit's offense. If not, send him packing.
Austin Croshere: Is a valuable 11th man who works hard, bangs with the bigs, plays active defense, bags treys in bunches, has a quick first step, and plays with enthusiasm. If he sometimes seems to be all-thumbs, and his jump shots seem too big to fit through the ring, then sit him and play him again tomorrow.
Again, whatever changes Bird decides to make will depend upon his long-term goal. The suspicion, however, that the Pacers being a good team won't be good enough for Bird. Blood might well be shed, angry words will be spoken, and tears will fall, but for Indiana to make a serious run for a championship in the near future, Bird must be willing to scrub-up and perform radical surgery.

@nemanja
Inace sva trojica imaju procenat suta slabiji nego sto to odgovara njihovom renomeu.
@Coyo
Kukoca i Radju.

A. Johnsona, Fostera i Grangera?

@nemanja
Inace sva trojica imaju procenat suta slabiji nego sto to odgovara njihovom renomeu.
@Coyo
Kukoca i Radju.

A. Johnsona, Fostera i Grangera?

@Berluskoni
Razmisli malo sta pises.
